Five days lazing about in Koh Phangan makes one week - and lazy, and possibly chubby - there's way more chubsters in Thailand than I thought there would be.
We're moving on to a slightly more plush resort - an upgrade of a toilet seat and a mattress and cover for an extra quid per day.
Thai boxing was fairly riotous, the best fight being between a young, tall, powerful white guy and a small, ridiculously cocky old Thai guy. The Thai had more experience and a swagger, the white guy had a massive punch. Huge knockout in the third round! Massive punch trumps swagger! The other fights were less intense, and more skilled, except for an embarrassing fight between a Swedish girl and an English girl. The Swede was pretty good, but I don't know where they found poor Stephanie. It was like seeing a newborn giraffe take on a mosquito. Not great, but still worth a bet.
We've made good friends with an English couple, Phil and Reggie, and a Canadian called Patrick, and have spent the last couple of nights drinking and dining with them. Phil and Reggie are off to Cambodia today, whereas we may see Patrick again later on in the week when we come back for a Thai guy's (name of Sec) 42nd birthday party at a beach bar. Great character, who plies us with free barbeque (sweet fish and nuts) and talks complete gobbledegook.
Black moon party was epic. We had to pay 6quid each on entry, but the atmosphere was great and the drinks were strong!
Moving on to another place now for a couple of nights, and planning to move to a diving island called Koh Tao soon.
Hey Jack, sounds if you're having fun meeting some interesting and, should I say crazy people,by the sounds of things - really enjoy reading what you guys are up to. Keep it up. Love you and miss you loads
